Additionally, you’ll have the chance to relax in thermal waters with medicinal properties, all in a unique natural setting.

It is important to be in excellent physical condition to fully enjoy this route, as the lagoons are situated at over 4,600 meters (15,091 feet) above sea level.

Itinerary

CUSCO – PACCHANTA – 7 LAGOONS – PACCHANTA – CUSCO”

04:00 – 08:00: Hotel Pickup – Transfer to Pacchanta – Breakfast

The adventure begins early when our professional guide picks you up at 04:00 for the transfer south of Cusco, heading towards Puerto Maldonado. Along the way, we will stop at the agricultural community of Pacchanta, where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared by our chef. You will also have the opportunity to purchase essential items such as beverages, snacks, sunscreen, and other necessary products for the journey.

08:00 – 13:00: Andean Hiking Route

Before starting the hike, our guide will provide a thorough briefing on the itinerary. The route offers stunning views of grasslands surrounded by glaciers, and from the highlands, you can admire the majestic Nevado de Ausangate, the highest mountain in the region. Along the way, you’ll spot wild alpacas and learn about the traditional lifestyles of local families.

The first stop is the Azulcocha Lagoon, located at the foot of the imposing Humashraju. Then, you will discover a series of beautiful lagoons, including Huchuypukacocha, Hatunpukacocha, Tecyacocha, Otorongo Varon, Otorongo Mujer, and Qeyllacocha. Each of these lagoons offers unique and contrasting landscapes, providing an unforgettable visual experience.

After the hike, we will return to Pacchanta around 13:00, where you will have a one-hour break. During this time, you can relax in the local thermal baths before enjoying a delicious lunch prepared by our chef.

15:30 – 18:30: Return to Cusco

After lunch, we will board the private transport for the return journey to Cusco, with an estimated arrival at your accommodation around 18:00, the tour ends in Plaza Regocijo, near the Plaza de armas.

What to Bring?

A light day pack with a change of clothes for the whole period of the trek – prepare for a vast range of temperatures
Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or rain poncho. Plastic ponchos can be bought for about $1 in Cusco .
Resistant footwear, waterproof trekking boots recommended. Extra socks are a must.
Sandals are also good to give your feet a chance to breathe in the evenings if you wish to carry them.
Warm clothes, including jacket, sweatshirt, gloves, scarf and a beanie. Thermal clothing is also recommended, especially for sleeping. * This is a particularly cold trek, you should make sure you have a lot of very warm clothes.
Sleeping bag (we can hire you one)
Torch/ Flashlight and spare batteries
Camera, batteries (batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions)
Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain and cold
Sun block
After-sun cream or hydrating cream for face and body
Toilet paper, pack in & pack out
Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, raw fruits, muesli, etc.
Non-disposable canteen (Nalgene type) and water for the first morning.
We advise you to bring water sterilizing tablets in case you collect water from streams.
Your own medical kit with any special medications that you might require, paracetamol, second skin for blisters etc.
Small towel
Bathers/swimsuit (if you intend on swimming in hot springs )
Cash – sufficient for snacks, tips and souvenirs.
Original passport & ISIC (International Student Identity Card) if you have one.
