Itinerary

1

CUSCO – PACCHANTA – 7 LAGOONS – PACCHANTA – CUSCO”

Our pick-ups start from 4:00 to 4:30AM in the respective lodgings. You will then head in the direction of Urcos, bordering the Vilcanota River, to reach our destination – the community of “PACCHANTA”. The community of “PACCHANTA” is located on the slopes of the snowy “Ausangate”, at 4200m. Its inhabitants, who are dedicated to raising alpacas and cultivating native tubers, are all expert weavers. With the wool of the alpaca, they make their clothing and use their meat as a source of protein. Native potatoes, fresh or traditionally converted into chuño and moraya, provide the carbohydrates they need to fight against the cold.

In this community, you will receive a nutritious breakfast (7:30 A.M), then venture into the middle of the Andes to visit the “7 beautiful lakes of Ausangate”. You will walk for about 5 to 6km to reach the first lagoon (1:30 hrs approx.). After that, you will continue on this fascinating adventure visiting other lagoons, perched in the middle of the Andean mountain range, surrounded by wonderful fauna and vegetation. The route will be about 14km (approximately 5 hrs).
We will return to the community of “PACCHANTA” to enjoy some enriching hot springs and after our lunch, will return to Cusco.
