A member of our staff will be waiting for you at the airport with a sign with your name on it, to transport you to your hotel, where your arrival will be priorly arranged. Lima is a friendly city so relax and get ready for the next morning. SS

Breakfast at the hotel; pick up from the hotel and transfer to Cusco airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado. When you arrive from Cusco, you will be welcomed at the airport and then taken to the headquarters of Puerto Maldonado on a 10-minute drive. You will be asked to pack up the most essential gear for 4 days and leave the rest of your stuff in the safe deposit at the headquarters. You will be driven from Puerto Maldonado to Tambopata River Port which is 20 kilometers drive away.Y ou will then enter into Infierno’s Native Community. The manager of the lodge will welcome you on your arrival and will explain some essential navigation and some security tips. You will then go on a walk of twenty minutes from Posada Amazonas towards the 30 meter Canopy Tower. There are banister stairs that run through the middle of the tower and is a safe access towards the platform. Once you reach the top of the scaffolding tower, you will get to see the breathtaking view of the area surrounding by forest which is cut by Tambopata River in the middle. You can witness macaws, parrots and toucans flying by and maybe some other species of birds on the treetops nearby.

After an early breakfast, we will do a short boat ride to the entrance of the lake Sandoval. After passing the check point, we will walk 3 km (2 miles aprox) to the Lake Sandoval (piranha habitat) – one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve. After a nice walk, the guide will take a rowing boat. You will navigate on the lake to appreciate the many different birds and monkey species (Hoatzin cormorant Jacanas, puma heron, eagles, howler monkey, squirrel monkey, black capuchin, tamarins and sloths). You may encounter a family of giant river otters (almost two meters long). They are in danger of extinction. Another species you may see is the largest alligator recorded (over 4 meters long).
You will then return to the lodge to enjoy a typical lunch. After lunch, you will return to the city.

Breakfast at lodge; transfer by boat to Tambopata River port then to Puerto Maldonado where we retrace our river and road journey back to Puerto Maldonado.
You’ll then be chauffeured to the airport for your direct flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, you’ll be met by a host who will take you to the city, where you can acclimatize and rest.

The city tour will start at 13:00. You will have a guided tour of Cusco and its nearby ruins. The city, once a capital of the extensive Inca Empire, has seen many changes since Francisco Pizarro’s men took the city with such apparent ease in November 1533. We will explore the city by foot to appreciate its superbly constructed Inca walls and architecturally extravagant colonial churches and palaces. This also includes a visit of Qoricancha, the ancient Golden Temple of the Sun. After this we take a short drive to visit the monolithic walls of Sacsayhuaman along with Tambomachay – better known as ‘the bath of the Inca’. Both sites are spectacularly set above the city. In the afternoon, you may have time to explore some of the central parts of the city and a have a chance to look at some of the great varieties of local craft work.

We will leave Cusco at 8:00 AM and stop at the city of Pisac (or Pisaq), through which the River of Urubamba flows, to enjoy the weekly market. Here you can buy textiles, pottery and other little things before taking the bus uphill to the ruins complex of Pisac, an Incan citadel perched high in a mountainside. Our journey continues to Ollantaytambo, where we will visit the archaeological complex. In the afternoon, we will travel to Agua Calientes by train, where we’ll spend the night.

After a good night´s sleep, we will travel by train and then by bus to the mountain of Machu Picchu. The tour will be guided for 2:30 hours. We will visit the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sundial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and the cemeteries. You will have some free time to discover the secrets of that mysterious place on your own.
In the afternoon, we will return to our hotel in Cusco.

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be picked up at 6:15 am. From the hotel, you will be taken to the bus station where you will board the bus to Puno. Enjoy spectacular views of the countryside on this full day of travel from Cusco to Puno, through the high Altiplano. You will enjoy several short stops to take in panoramic views and visit a historical ruin in Andahuaylillas, Raqchi, La Raya, Pucara and Sicuani, where you’ll have a delicious buffet lunch and taste the unique Andean flavor. Upon arrival, you will be taken to your Puno Hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be picked up from your hotel at 7:00 am and transferred to Puno’s port. Our journey will begin with the Uros Floating Islands. The Uros are the native people who live on these man-made islands made with cattail, which is grown on Lake Titicaca. The houses are built atop, while the cooking is done outside to avoid fires. After spending an hour on the Island of Uros, you will proceed to the Island of Taquile. Here you will become aware that the locals speak Quechua instead of the predominant Aymara. The Island of Taquile was once a part of the Inca Empire, which still influences the style of the buildings today. Upon arriving on the island, you will receive some brief information as well as a tour until lunchtime. In the afternoon, the boat will take you back to Puno. From Puno´s port, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be picked from your hotel and transferred to Juliaca airport. On route to the airport you will visit the Chullpas at Sillustani, where you will be able to visit one of the largest cemeteries in the world which is home to almost 100 Chullpas (ancient funerary towers)! Each of these towers stands at about 12 meters high with the width increasing from bottom-up. In keeping with ancient rites, objects such as jewelry, food, and stoneware were also placed in the tombs. Once you are done visiting the necropolis, you will continue on to the Juliaca airport. Take a flight to Lima and then connect at the same airport – Lima International departure. (If you are spending further nights in Lima, our staff will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel).
