South Valley Tour Itinerary – ATV Cusco Adventures
Pick-up Time:
- 8:00 – 8:30 am: Pick-up from a designated meeting point in Cusco. Our comfortable and safe transport will take you through scenic landscapes to the South Valley.
1. Visit to Tipón – UNESCO World Heritage Site:
- 9:00 am: Arrival at Tipón, 27 km from Cusco. This archaeological site, renowned for its impressive agricultural terraces, is famous for its sophisticated irrigation system, which is still functional today. An expert guide will explain the significance of this pre-Inca marvel and its importance in Andean agriculture.
2. Exploration of Pikillaqta – Pre-Hispanic City:
- 10:00 am: Next, we head to Pikillaqta, an ancient pre-Inca city founded by the Wari culture. We will explore its impressive temples, plazas, and well-preserved buildings, where you will learn about the life and organization of this important urban center.
3. Andahuaylillas – The Sistine Chapel of the Americas:
- 11:30 am: Arrival at Andahuaylillas, famous for its colonial church, known as the “Sistine Chapel of Cusco.” Admire its exceptional 17th- and 18th-century murals, depicting biblical scenes with a unique blend of European and Andean art.
- Optional: Visit to the Ritos Andinos Museum, where you can learn more about the region’s traditions and customs.
4. Return to Cusco:
- 1:30 pm: After a day of exploration and immersion in the rich cultural and archaeological heritage of the South Valley, we will begin our return to Cusco.
- 2:00 pm: Approximate arrival in Cusco, marking the end of the tour.
